Expulp Verdict vs Grammarly

Grammarly is writing assistant. Verdict is a different instrument: it measures what a piece adds beyond what AI already knows and what is already published, claim by claim. Here is what each one tells you, and when you want both.

What Grammarly does

Grammarly corrects grammar and tone as you write and includes a plagiarism checker and an AI detection feature in its paid tiers.

Where it is good

  • The best-known writing assistant, in every editor and browser.
  • Clarity and tone suggestions as you type.
  • A plagiarism check and an AI check bundled in.

What it cannot tell you

  • Everything Grammarly does is about how the text reads, not what it says. A fluent, well-toned piece of nothing passes.
  • Its plagiarism and AI checks have the limits of their categories: strings and style.
  • It cannot tell you which of your points an AI would have offered anyway, or where your piece actually adds.

Questions

Does Verdict fix my writing?

No. It tells you what your writing contributes and, if you ask, what to add, source or cut.

Is there a browser extension?

Not yet. There is a WordPress plugin, an API, clients and an MCP server for agents.

Is the quick read like Grammarly's plagiarism check?

Partly: it shows copied wording with its pages, and also how predictable the wording is and what each sentence shares with related pages.
