Expulp Verdict vs Copyscape

Copyscape is plagiarism checker. Verdict is a different instrument: it measures what a piece adds beyond what AI already knows and what is already published, claim by claim. Here is what each one tells you, and when you want both.

What Copyscape does

Copyscape finds pages on the web that contain the same text as yours, by URL or pasted content, and offers batch checks and a private index for publishers.

Where it is good

  • Reliable detection of verbatim and near-verbatim copies across the web.
  • Batch search and a private index to catch duplicates inside your own site.
  • Cheap per check.

What it cannot tell you

  • It matches strings. An essay rewritten sentence by sentence passes clean while every idea in it is borrowed.
  • It has no notion of what a language model already knows, so a piece of pure common knowledge in fresh words looks original.
  • It cannot tell you whether the new claims in a piece hold up, or what the piece adds for a reader.

Keep Copyscape for cheap, exhaustive string matching on volume. Add Verdict where it matters whether a piece says anything new.

Questions

Does Verdict report verbatim overlap?

Yes: the share of wording found word for word and the pages it came from, in the quick read and the full verdict.

Is Verdict's web index as large?

No. Verdict searches the live web for the specific claims of a piece rather than indexing everything, which finds paraphrases but can miss small blogs.

Can I check my whole site?

Yes, with batches of up to 500 pieces and a CSV of results.
